World Food Day
The Eco-club of your school celebrated world food day on 20th October 2011. In which, the merits of nutritious food and demerits of junk food were emphasized. The following activities were carried out to mark this occasion.
I. Healthy Tiffin competition (Pre-Nur to X)
II. Inter-House sandwich making competition was also held in the school premises
World Earth Day
Our school celebrated the world earth day on 21st April 2011 to instill awareness among students about the importance of balancing the needs of humanity. The following activities were followed by the students to make them to aware about environment:-
Special Morning Assembly was held where song of Michael Jackson- “The Earth Song” was sung. Children of Bose house presented a short speech highlighting the significance of world earth day. A skit depicted the importance of trees in our lives and ‘go green’ concept was also presented.
Painting Competition (class I to V) and poster making competition (class VI to X) was conducted in the school premises, where all the students displayed their artistic skills on various topic like: - green globe-great globe, nurturing nature by our hands, each one plant ten, go green, mother earth.
Anti-Cracker rally
The eco-Club of our school organized an anti-cracker rally on 18th October 2011 where the students of the school marched through the sector to give message to people to avoid use of fire cracker this diwali. Message was also given to celebrate eco-friendly diwali without wasting one’s time.
Cleanliness Drive
The eco-club of our school is working for keeping the surrounding clean in the school premises all the time. Eco-club of school keeps a check on all the classes and after every week the result is declared of their difficult groups namely: - Passion (I to III)

Van Mohotsav Week
To mark the important of Van Mohotsav, members of eco-club carried out a tree plantation programme in the school premises. Students of the school brought various kinds of saplings which were planted in the school garden.
On this occasion, principal applauded and appreciated the efforts made by the students to plant saplings and concluded by giving the message to conserve and preserve the natural beauty of our earth.
PowerPoint Competition on Biodiversity
As Chandigarh is all set to become the first solar city of the country by 2012, the school also promotes environmental awareness and takes pride in keeping its campus immaculately clean at all times. St. Mary’s School has been organizing many activities like plantation of trees in and around school campus, Declamation contest; Creative writing contest and quiz contest on environment related topics are the most awaited activities under the aegis of the Eco club. The school also lays emphasis on use of environment friendly products and the students are trained to make and use Jute bags and paper bags. The school maintains a ten-minute power cut everyday in order to conserve electricity. A special ‘Save Electricity’ project is on the cards for senior students and a ‘Say No to Crackers’ rally so as to create and spread awareness amongst the localities.
