VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF VAN MAHOTSAV AT ST. MARY’S SCHOOL
Valedictory function of Van Mahotsav week was held today at St. Mary’s School. Mr. Ishwar Singh Regional Conservative Of Forest Ministry Of Environment (Government of India) was the chief guest for the function. The chief Guest was welcomed by the Principal Sir Mr. Saji Jacob. While interacting with the students the chief guest informed that Chandigarh is the greenest city not only in India but in the entire Asia with 38.7% greenery and urged the students to maintain the same in the near future. The valedictory function of Van Mahotsav started with an environmental rally on the streets of Sector 46 with students holding playcards and saplings in their hands raised slogans to “GO GREEN” and “SAVE ENVIRONMENT”. It was one of the initiatives put up by the school to make the residents of the city aware about the importance of making the environment Eco-friendly.
Further the school choir added its charm to the programme by presenting a melodious song as a call to keep the Environment clean and green followed by an enthralling skit which also showed how children can contribute their bit in saving the environment. The school Eco Club presented the report of the various activities carried out throughout the week. The Chairman of the school Rev. Fr.Biju.P.Thomas appreciated the efforts of the students and persuaded them to conserve their environment and appreciated the efforts of the students and also urged that these kinds of activities will further nurture and strengthen the message of conservation and preservation of the trees in our universe. He wholeheartedly thanked Hon’ble Chief Guest, Mr Ishwar Singh for being a part of the function.
